Max Tebbitts Solicitors Ltd

The firm was established in 2010 as a niche practice working in the fields of business and commercial law. Prior to this I spent some time working as an independent locum. The practice specialises in commercial transactions, employment law and dispute resolution.

The work requires a significant understanding of, and aptitude for, the business and commercial world which has been developed over many years of experience working for a wide range of clients and work.

At Tebbitts & Co the focus is on commercial and business law whilst recognising that there is no advantage to operating with impenetrable partitions between areas such as commercial, employment and property law.

I have worked on large contracts for public sector clients, corporate matters for SMEs, finance companies, retail outlets, brewers, public companies, children’s nurseries, banks, insurance companies, individuals, technology companies, construction companies, debt recovery companies, recruitment companies, landlords, telecom and information technology companies, software companies, manufacturers, printers and several other sectors.

Tebbitts & Co is a small business law practice with an independent spirit. Max Tebbitts is a solicitor with over 15 years’ professional experience, prior to which he spent a number of years working in commercial roles in industry. For this reason the firm approaches the business world with a strong commercial awareness. The firm views its role as a facilitator in enabling things to happen and sees it as important to remain aware of the overall objectives of a transaction. With commercial legal issues it is sometimes necessary to strike a delicate balance among a number of critical issues and Tebbitts & Co is trusted by its clients to take the right approach.

Current interests include squash and running, taking the dog for a walk and life at the helm of a young family.  This year I have been fishing, camping, visiting the Edinburgh festival amongst other activities as time allows.

Experience

Tebbitts & Co advises on business matters including commercial contracts such as partnership agreements, agency agreements, terms and conditions of trade, franchise agreements, website terms and conditions, intellectual property licence agreements, trade marks, software development agreements, technology and broadcasting agreements, among others.

The firm’s corporate services include business sales and acquisitions, shareholder and cross-option agreements. Tebbitts & Co specialises in buying and selling businesses. Over the last 12 months it has acted in a wide range of transactions including an education training business, motor engineering businesses, dental practices and others. The firm works collaboratively with leading accountants and business transfer agents.

With its debt recovery work the firm believes in a proactive approach and while some debts can be recovered with a letter or a phone call, it will, where necessary, commence legal proceedings on a creditor’s behalf with a claim for interest, costs and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Regulations.

Employment law is rapidly changing and there are many challenges ahead for HR directors, managers and business owners. The firm helps businesses with the development and implementation of policies and procedures that are compliant with current legislation and best practice. It also assists with the preparation and drafting of staff handbooks.

The firm has longstanding relationships with existing clients spanning across individuals, SMEs and plcs. Without heavy City overheads the firm’s fees are competitive, which is another reason for its popularity.
