Harcus Sinclair LLP

I am a senior solicitor in the Family Team at Harcus Sinclair LLP and have been with the firm for four years.  I have been working on divorce and family cases for eight years, since I qualified, and regularly advise on divorce and civil partnership dissolution, high net worth financial remedies (previously called ancillary relief) matters and property claims following the breakdown of non-married cohabiting relationships.

I assist parents, both married and unmarried, in resolving issues surrounding arrangements for children once a relationship has broken down.  That may be in a  domestic setting, i.e. who the child will live with during the week, arrangements for weekends etc or may involve an application from one parent to move abroad with the children.

I have considerable experience in the drafting and negotiating of nuptial settlements for couples who wish to protect and preserve assets either before or after marriage.

I work closely with the department's trainee solicitor, who shares my office and is supervised by me.  That enables me to delegate work, under close supervision, and means clients can benefit from a fee earner with a lesser hourly rate doing some of the more straightforward tasks.  I am also supported by my secretary who can always assist with my availability and take messages if I am not at my desk.

I have made my career in family law as I have a great interest in people and in problem solving.  The breakdown of any relationship is an extremely traumatic experience and is only made harder if there are financial worries and disputes over children.  I work with my clients to find the outcome that works best for them and their family.  Every client is different but my aim is to ensure that by the end of the process they are stronger, more positive and better equipped to move on with their lives.  I believe in sensible, pragmatic advice and tailor-made solutions to suit individuals.
