Following my previous experience, I now spend my time working exclusively with the Dispute Resolution team and specialising in disputed Wills, Estates, Probates, Trusts and Powers of Attorney. My caseload consists of anything from dealing with a dispute over care home fees to helping with NHS Continuing Healthcare matters. Notable disputed probate and estate cases include:

  • Dealing with multi-million pound estates (both contentious and non-contentious)
  • Dealing with Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims, both in the High Court and County Court
  • Both challenging and defending a challenge to Wills on claims of lack of capacity and undue influence
  • Dealing with the summons and subpoenas before various District Probate Registries

Clients are what matter and they deserve to be put first. I am acutely aware that my clients will often instruct me during incredibly difficult, upsetting and emotional times, whether it’s a client defending a challenge or considering whether to challenge a Will, Estate or Power of Attorney. It may even be that a client is looking for advice as to their legal position. My approach is therefore to keep a calm and empathetic attitude, as well as working hard to develop a solution that is best for my client to achieve their objective.

For all of my clients I appreciate that this area of law is often a ‘distress purchase’ and so I make sure I work as hard as I can to explain the process and keep clients informed, working together to achieve the best result possible. Where resolution can be found amicably outside of Court, I advise clients on the best route to a successful settlement. If Court action is necessary, I ensure that clients are fully advised on the processes, procedures and costs involved.

Previous Employment

Northamptonshire County Council2008 - 2010

Legal Clerk

Experience

After studying Law at the University of Southampton and the College of Law in London, I qualified as a Solicitor in November 2012 having completed my training contract at Buckles Solicitors.

Following qualification, I spent two years working closely with the Private Client team at Buckles Solicitors. This meant dealing with all aspects of Wills, Tax, Trusts, Probate and Inheritance Tax planning which has enabled me to better understand how this type of work should be handled which, I believe has equipped me to be a better lawyer when handling litigation in this area.
